Hayle Carnival 2024
Chairman and Community Champion Nigel Powell's incredible memorial displays
It is no surprise that our very own chairman, Nigel Powell, has earned the title of Community Champion over the years. His remarkable and visually striking displays at the Passmore Edwards flower bed consistently captivate us. Nigel’s meticulous attention to detail in both planning and planting never fails to impress. Below are some photos showcasing his stunning displays for D-Day and to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of of the Royal British Legion with a lovely added plaque kingly donated from W J Winn funeral Directors.
Hayle Academy
Hayle Academy adopted a pot in Penpol Terrace which they have been consistently working on through their Broad Horizons community gardening team.
A key feature of this transformation is the installation of a replica of Godrevy lighthouse. This installation serves not only as a visual centerpiece but also symbolizes the maritime heritage of the where we live. The lighthouse is illuminated at night using solar power, which highlights both sustainability and innovation in community projects.
Once in a lifetime plant was planted in Hayle in 2020!
Hayle is now home to very rare puya plants which normally grow in South America and die once they have flowered. What a very unique plant we are lucky to witness here .

King George's Walk
Bodriggy Academy
Bodriggy Academy have been busy working with Sandie from Hayle in Bloom for over a decade on their adopted area within King George's Walk. Their adopted section features various creative installations, including a notable attraction called “Bugingham Palace.” This installation showcases around it handmade wildlife figures that are designed to be bright and welcoming. These artistic creations not only beautify the area but also promote awareness about local wildlife and biodiversity.
St Piran's School
For many years St Piran's School has achieved some incredible work on a derelict area of East Quay in Hayle with their vibrant , welcoming display's for Hayle in Bloom and as part of the town's South West in Bloom entry.
Philps Displays
Not only have our famous Pasty shop Philps been so kind to Hayle in Bloom through donations over the years , their hanging basket displays are always a joy to see in full bloom.
Bloomers tackle misused area in Penpol Terrace and prepare for new plantation
HIB volunteers have been diligently working over the past few weeks on what is now referred to as the Anniversary Bed on Penpol Terrace. This area had become overrun by bamboo and other trees, which unfortunately led to its misuse. To revitalize this space for both community enjoyment and ecological benefit, we are transforming it into distinct flower beds surrounded by carefully selected trees. This redesign will ensure that the area remains open to views of the harbour while showcasing a variety of beautiful plants and trees.
